Fulfillment Update
over 6 years ago – Wed, Dec 18, 2019 at 11:54:49 PM

Hi,

I hope you're having a great holiday season enjoying family, friends and great food!

I apologize for the delay in getting your Backmate to you and for not being more specific in our last update about the fulfillment process. When I sent it out, we had just finished production and shipped your Backmate to our fulfillment center in Hong Kong - I got a little too excited with the tone and subject line of that update and didn't accurately communicate where we were in the process. We are now 2 weeks into the fulfillment and have more information about how the process works, when you will get a tracking number and when you will get your Backmate. Everything about bringing The Backmate to life has been a fantastic but big learning experience for us. We really appreciate the support, feedback and patience we have received from you and all our backers through the comments, emails and messages.

This is the most recent information we have from our fulfillment center and I will update you as we get more/better information or as things change:

  • For backers in the US, Canada, Australia and Europe, you will be getting your tracking number in about 2-4 weeks and then you will receive your Backmate in about 1 week after that. Your Backmate left Hong Kong last week and is being shipped by ocean to the port nearest to your city. Once it reaches the port, it will be shipped by normal postal carrier to you. This is the reason we don't have tracking numbers for everyone right now - the tracking numbers are assigned by the postal carrier which hasn't received the package yet.
  • For backers in Asia and Africa, you will be getting your tracking number within the next week, if you have not already received it. We still have a few Backmates stuck in customs in Thailand and The Philippines and are working on getting them released.

The Backmates are relatively big and heavy which made shipping by air to the US, Canada, Australia and Europe way too expensive for us to do. On top of that, we have been struggling with booking timely shipments over the busy holiday season. I lose sleep every night over the extra time it's taking to get your Backmate to you. I value your support so much and can't wait for you to start benefiting from this product. Thank you for your patience!

Cheers,

Eric

Your Backmate is on it's way 🎉

Hi there,

November was an absolutely huge month for Backmate. Embracing the many challenging hoops and hurdles of logistics, we have now fulfilled all the crowdfunding Backmate units. It's a proud moment seeing all these Backmates packaged up and being sent out to you, our backers!

You will be getting a tracking number within the next several weeks. We have backers all over the world and some of you will get your tracking number and shipment sooner than others.  I can't express my gratitude enough for your patience and support along this journey together.

You will be the first to use what we believe is the most versatile back and neck pain relief tool ever produced. That said, it only works if you use it! We want to assist you in any way we can to help you kickstart your body's innate healing  power. In short, we need your questions and comments! Your feedback will be the voice that impacts a larger audience to stop medicating and start healing. Please write to me at [email protected].

A special thanks to our Backmate Supersport pledge level supporters, we had an incredibly fun day with you in Temecula, California and it happened to be my birthday. The day began at my High Performance motorcycle riding camp with special guests Keith Code, Justin Barcia and Ben and Dave Bostrom. After a great day in the dirt, we headed to the MotoDoffo motorcycle museum and winery for a delightful evening of eye candy, food and fine wine.

Also, a huge thanks to those who have made comments and suggestions along the way. You have helped shaped the Backmate to be what it is when it delivers to your doorstep. Please keep them coming : )

Until then, we wish you a wonderful holiday season ahead,

Eric

Manufacturing Update #5
over 6 years ago – Fri, Nov 22, 2019 at 10:51:41 PM

Hi there,

They say that all good things are worth the wait, and in this case, I couldn't agree more. I can proudly say that we didn't cut any corners manufacturing The Backmate; however, we did have to make some difficult decisions that set us back both in time and money - from scraping molds for improved functionality and versatility to upgrading materials for durability and aesthetics.

Paired with a meticulous manufacturing and quality control staff, Dustin and I oversaw the production line this past week. Picking through thousands of individual parts and complete assemblies to check tolerances and workmanship, it's wonderful to confirm our high expectations are being met. Please see the pictures from our trip at the end of this update.

The exciting news is: production for all the Kickstater units will be finished this week! In the coming days you will be receiving shipment and tracking information for your Backmate. The fulfillment process is tricky and takes some time, especially this time of year. Thank you for being patient with us as we work through these challenges to get your Backmate to you soon as possible.

In the box with your Backmate and accesories, is a "Quickstart Guide" and a "Therapy Guide" that will quickly get you up to speed on how to safely use the Backmate in your doorway to address those aches and pains. This is where we need your help! Please tell us specifically what you would like to focus on so we can build out specific videos to address those areas. Let us know in the comments below or email us at [email protected]. Also, check our website or Youtube channel periodically as we upload more therapy uses with the Backmate.

As a show of our appreciation for your support and patience, we would like to offer you a 20% off discount on our new and improved Backmate Power Massager. You can experience the power of percussion therapy for under $120 dollars. Just use discount code Power20 at checkout.

Thank you,

Eric

Manufacturing Update #4

Hello there!

It’s been a real honor to meet some of you in person at recent events. Thanks to all of you for your continued enthusiasm in our lead up to getting The Backmate out into the world. Our originally planned ship date is quickly approaching and many of you have been asking "when are we going to ship?". Like all beautiful things, my answer has a thorn and a rose.

The Thorn: Despite working our tails off to keep our projected delivery date, we are about 30 days behind.

The Rose: I couldn’t be more proud of the reasons we are running behind. I know the modifications will be worth your wait!

Between the stretch goals and our commitment to deliver the highest quality and most versatile back pain relief tool ever developed, we have made these changes/enhancements:

  • Inner bar bushings: New design and mold for smoother sliding action and length revised for expanded maximum travel to 36.75 inches / 94.35 cm (to accommodate even more doorways).
  • Additional laser cut teeth to allow expanded travel.
  • End cap revision: New design, molds and graphics for easier end cap removal and alignment. (see first image at end of this update)
  • New mold for disc rollers.
  • New design and mold for Hot/Cold therapy rollers.
  • New axle design for adjustable width rollers.(see second image at the end of this update)
  • New design and molds for roller bushings for adjustable width rollers
  • New design and molds for roller internals to accommodate the adjustable width axle and Hot/Cold therapy wheels.
  • New silicone rubber on both surfaces of the end caps to provide better protection for the door frame. It's a simple change but this new material is really amazing! (see third image at the end of this update)
  • Tightening of all fits and tolerances for smoother operation and user experience.

These iterations of new parts and mold changes have taken time and energy to build and test. Admittedly, Dustin and I are a bit neurotic and want The Backmate to be perfect - which has added time to the schedule, but we really love this product and want to deliver you the best possible experience and highest quality product possible. We are so proud of The Backmate and want to make sure you will be too.

Additionally, we have been building our user guide library for various pains, injuries and chronic stressors. These will be ready to drop at time of delivery so you can quickly get up to speed using your Backmate and join us on the front side of pain relief and lasting health.

Dustin and I will doing inspection of the final assembly process in about two weeks and I'll share more pictures with you.

Best wishes,

Eric

Manufacturing Update #3

Hi,

It's been about a month since we last spoke, so I want to give you a quick update on The Backmate manufacturing progress. I'm excited to tell you that we received the production run first articles last week and they look great! There were a couple things that need a little tuning to make the user experience perfect, but for the most part, Dustin and I are really excited about how things are coming along and I know you are going to love your Backmate! Here is a summary of where we are:

  • First and foremost - we are still on schedule to ship in October!
  • All the metal parts (tubing, etc) are in stock in our factory
  • All the plastic part molds are complete and we are making a couple final tweaks to the fit and finish of a few of the components - we will have new "second articles" next week, and if everything is a go, we will start the final build
  • We finished the packaging design and graphics, did some package drop testing and are starting production on the package (it's looking great and I'd share some pictures of it with you, but you've already seen the basic design and I want to keep a few surprises for you when you get your Backmate in the mail!)
  • The design for the quick start guide and warning hang tag is finished. I would love your feedback/suggestions on the quick start guide here. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments!
  • We have selected our fulfillment partners across the globe are finalizing the pricing and contract details

That's it for now. I wish you a great weekend and will be in contact soon with more updates!

Cheers!

Eric
